Founded in 1969 by David Steinborn and Al Socolofsky, Steinborn has been a fixture in the real estate industry of Las Cruces even through various changes and stages of growth. What has remained the same has been our commitment to our customers, now spanning the generations.
Building a legacy of trust
That commitment is expressed in our mission statement: Building a legacy of trust. We know we have accomplished our goals when our customers trust us, again and again, to buy and sell their property in the Las Cruces area. That legacy was established by David Steinborn and Al Socolofsky and continues to influence everything we do today.

The Steinborn Story
| 1969 | David Steinborn and Al Socolofsky form the Socolofsky-Steinborn real estate company. |
| 1982 | The company joins the franchise of Better Homes and Gardens, which later became GMAC Real Estate. |
| 1970-1999 | David leads the company, receiving numerous awards for his real estate endeavors, and also serves as mayor of Las Cruces from 1982-1987. |
| 2005 | The Roadrunner office opens, providing expanded service to customers throughout the Las Cruces area. |
| 2006 | David forms a partnership with John Hummer, developer and CEO of Mountain View Regional Medical Center. With 17 years of experience in hospital development and leadership, John brings his expertise to Steinborn in order to serve customers and REALTORS into the future. |
| 2008 | John and Amy Hummer transition to full ownership of Steinborn GMAC. |
| 2010 | The company announces its new name, “Steinborn & Associates Real Estate,” along with the decision to make Steinborn a fully independent, non-franchised brokerage. The company also joins the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE), demonstrating our ability to provide services and infrastructure on par with the leading independent real estate companies worldwide. |
| 2013 | Our south county office opens in Santa Teresa, NM. |
| 2015 | Along with the city of Las Cruces, Steinborn & Associates mourns the passing of our founder, David Steinborn, and celebrates the incredible impact he had on the city and the region. |
| 2016 | Connie Hettinga, the current state associate president, joins the Steinborn & Associates management team as a Qualifying Broker. |
| 2019 | Steinborn & Associates celebrates 50 years of commitment and service to our Las Cruces community. |
