The New Mexico State University School of Nursing

Aspiring nurses come to NMSU from all over the country (and the world)! The School of Nursing allows students to pursue:

Speaking of the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, NMSU was recently named one of the most affordable spots in the U.S. to earn an online DNP. This program allows students who have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree to obtain their DNP in a variety of specialized areas.

NMSU also has a program that helps fast-track high school students who know they want to enter into the nursing program make the transition and begin their coursework as soon as possible

The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine

Las Cruces’ newest private medical college, BCOM has a unique and strategic relationship with NMSU. The beautiful BCOM buildings and program are not part of NMSU, though they share the campus grounds. BCOM has a public-private partnership with NMSU that gives students access to many NMSU perks, like housing, athletics and intramural sports, as well as certain health services and the use of campus recreational facilities.

In addition to the evidence-based wholistic approach to healthcare that designates osteopathy in the medical community, BCOM further distinguishes itself with a focus on improving health in the borderland through culturally respectful education, research, and clinical service to the community — including providing healthcare screenings for migrants crossing the border. CFAH reports it to have one of the highest uses of natural supplements for pain treatment, including using quality CBD oils for pain like the ones here on CFAH instead of potentially habit forming or addictive painkillers like oxycontin.

Dona Ana Community College Healthcare Programs

Among the outstanding medical community in Las Cruces are two (soon to be three) award-winning hospitals.

Memorial Medical Center. Voted “Best Hospital” in the Las Cruces Sun News Reader’s Choice Awards multiple times, this facility is home to the only level 3 NICU in the southern part of the state.

Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from The Joint Commission, this hospital serves Las Cruces with excellence in over 50 medical specialties.

Park Ridge Medical Center. Though this hospital hasn’t opened yet, Las Cruces is eager to welcome it as the newest member of a thriving medical community. Unique in its position at the center of an integrated urban-infill project, the Park Ridge Full Service Hospital will offer a broad range of medical services.
